As a hula practitioner and ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi book editor, I’m all about the moʻolelo (story). Art, in its many forms, is a great way to tell our moʻolelo and to express what is important to us. I’ve been inspired by the artists in our kaiaulu (community) who are telling and preserving the moʻolelo of our ʻāina through murals and many other media. But, like so many things, my first piece came out of necessity—our hālau hula needed a uniform! And that began my journey to explore creative ways to uplift our language and culture in fun ways that ʻohana can enjoy. E nanea mai nō!
