After a few university degrees, being a professional artist, followed by a corporate career as a professional stylist with a Fortune 500 Company (one of the top 2 card, stationery, gifts companies), and then owning with family a chain of card and gift shops, I entered the field of ed. as an NBCT Art Teacher (first elem., and then, I requested a transfer allowing me to teach High School and Middle - settling on Middle). My students took all the district awards for so many yrs., the record can't be broken... and I honestly thought I hated it ... until my Father said that I was where I was meant to be, and I made a difference in the lives of my students. I came to realize that due to my love of every single child I was teaching and had taught, I loved it. I didn't like meetings. I didn't care for several policies. However, I loved those kids - every single one of them from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds extremely high and equally low with equal ranges in attitudes, home lives, etc., and that love was reciprocated. If you are a teacher, YOU also make a difference in lives daily. YOU reach lives. YOU influence lives. YOU are security to those children, and as you know, the ones who need it / want it the most, of course are the ones who show it the least. They'll never forget you.
