The name "Sniffin The Wind" came from an old friend that would say "Im getting out this weekend and sniff the wind". He explained if you watch a dog close when they get outside they will hold their nose up and follow a scent. No particular direction or destination they just get out and go. That's what he would do, just go, get outside in the fresh air with no particular place to go and enjoy Gods creation. I've always been a nature lover spending as much time as I can outdoors exploring. From my early years as a kid running the ridges and fields of East Tennessee, to being a not so good hunter and fisherman, to finally realizing I was using hunting and fishing as an excuse to be outdoors. I put down my gun, bow and arrow and rod and reel and picked up my camera. That was over forty years ago and I'm still exploring and photographing nature and its inhabitants. There is nothing better for me mentally, physically and spiritually than getting outside away from the man made world of concrete, steel, glass, deadlines, meetings and always being connected and finding myself in the world God created. Stress, anxiety and a thousand sounds of the man made world melt away as I become absorbed into my surroundings. I hope my photographs will help people experience a little of that. I also collect quotes that make me think or stir an emotion. I add some of these quotes to my photographs hoping to stir some emotions or to make you think about something other than about the stress of life.
