Two memories hold sway when I think of stationary and greeting cards. The first scene takes place in Whittier, California. It's 1966. My two sisters and I are avidly sorting through a box of hundreds of greeting cards that someone has collected. The backs of the cards have been cut off. We're mesmerized by the enormous range of images on the fronts of the cards, putting our particular favorites in piles. The second memory is of colorful stationary that my mom bought for me. The year was 1970, or there about. The stationary had fun scenes around the edges with a blank space in the middle for messages. I was inspired by the artwork and became a tremendous letter-writer! It's good to see that Zazzle.com is encouraging people to continue the art of letter-writing. It makes me want to go back to my old habit of sending letters in the mail.
