Sobre

Wife-husband team Sonia Vallabh and Eric Minikel are on a very personal mission to find a cure to prion diseases. When Sonia was diagnosed as a genetic carrier of a rare disease called Fatal Familial Insomnia (FFI), she and Eric quit their regular jobs and began studying molecular biology to learn as much as they could. The following year, they had acquired so much knowledge they were able to start PhD programs to continue their research. Just 3 years after receiving her diagnosis, they have published a paper, made a name for themselves in the world of prion research and met scientists from all over the world. They have created a non-profit organization called PrionAlliance to help fund their research. This store has been created to help spread awareness of prion-related diseases (which include FFI, Crutzfeld-Jakob Disease, Gerstmann–Sträussler–Scheinker syndrome and "mad cow disease" and "chronic wasting disease" in cows and deer.) and help raise money for their cause. Their friend, Matteo Manca, designed the logo for them. 20-30% of the cost of all items is donated to their non-profit organization.
