Rick Tuttle has been practicing the art of photography since 1979 and received a BS degree in Imaging and Photographic Technology from RIT in 1986. He grew up in the Northwest and took up residence in Seattle where he produced a video hiking guide and worked in a custom B&W photo lab for many years. The act of creating a quality image through chemistry became a passion which he enjoyed right up until that art form was supplanted by the digital process. Early in the digital revolution Rick and a partner formed a digital imaging company in Seattle providing image manipulation services and high end scanning for corporate clients, photographers, and graphic designers.
In 2001 Rick moved across the state to Walla Walla where he now resides. His professional imaging work has been largely confined to a documentary style of photography and graphic design for newsletters and web sites, but he has always liked to shoot photographs that depict color as subject, and simple forms. Over the last 15 years he has amassed an interesting volume of what he calls “Base Images” with which to begin his current artistic process. Taking advantage of the second digital revolution in digital imaging he is shooting and processing even more with the intent of producing abstract and color as subject fine art, all using iOS devices. Rick says mobile devices provide a fantastic platform to create art anywhere at any time. He says he often shoots an image and process it on the spot or pics something from his photo library and works on it while in a waiting room or watching a football game. The apps available are inexpensive but very powerful and open a whole new world to the mobile digital artist. Ricks art can be seen at ricktuttleart.com
