Old World Synagogues

This store helps support non-profit activities. These images of the vast constructions of the late 19th century, show the magnificent architecture, aesthetic vision, and growing confidence of the European Jewish community. Many of these structures were destroyed during the Holocaust and Second World War. Others survived and were repurposed. A few have been restored, and a very few are again synagogues.
