Stress, anxiety, restlessness, boredom: many of us know how they feel, but few know how to channel them productively. To break free from the cycle of mental and physical drain, I began to channel my energy into hobbies of personal progress through art. As a once-dedicated practitioner and teacher of yoga, I immediately recognized the similarity of yoga and watercolor painting. I began tp study the tools and techniques of watercolor as I had done with the philosophy and science of my yoga practice. They both provided for me moments of stillness-in-motion where my body could shift, my breathing slowed, and my mind quieted, allowing me to pour myself (pun intended) onto the page as I have to my mat. My art, like my yoga practice, has provided a deeper understanding of myself, an opportunity to find beauty in the process, and a platform to share with others who may relate. It reminds me that meditation is not solely about stillness, but instead about the intentions you send out into the universe.
