Finally, Happy Birthday to YOU! Created by Leap Year Baby Cari Gelber (Who is turning 9!). This is a store designed for all things Leap Year. After years of frustrating searches for paper goods and party favors for her unique every-four-year birthday, Cari Gelber finally decided to create a line of her own. Cari Gelber was born on February 29th, 1980, a bonafide Leap Year Baby. For those of you not familiar with the Leap Year and this unique birthdate- it comes only once every 4 years. This begs the intriguing question hounding all February 29th-born people: on what date is our birthday celebrated in the off-years? And how old does this actually make you? These were some of the questions Cari heard, year in and year out. As a child, she took advantage of the years in between-why not celebrate it February 28th AND March 1st? When that special day did come around every 4 years, Cari made sure to make it a huge celebration. As a full time event planner by day, when Cari turned 28 (or 7) in 2008, she decided to throw a massive 7-year-old-themed party in her home town of New York City, inviting all Leap Year babies who lived in the tri-state area to celebrate. She garnered attention from the Daily News, NY Post, NY Times and many other publications. There were board games, video games, a pinata, party hats, favors, tons of cake and over 50 leap year babies in attendance. This is when she first realized that she was not alone in her quest to go big on this very special birthday...and that there was indeed broad-scale national interest in celebrate Leap Year Day, both by Leap Year Babies and regular annual date babies alike. It was then that Cari came across the website LeapYearDay.com, the headquarters and Birthday Club for over 10,000 people born on a Leap Year Day. Rife with stories of growing up as a Leap Year Baby, methods for promoting and spreading Leap Year Awareness the site quickly became Cari's community headquarters.
