Yangrima Fundraiser

Many villages in Nepal suffered huge damage and loss of lives. Almost all the houses and schools in Helambu, Sindhupalchowk district were destroyed. And all the classrooms of Yangrima School and hostel buildings were destroyed. So, immediately after the earthquake we started a fundraising campaign which helped us; • a) Start temporary learning centres in three villages to help children overcome fear and trauma; • b) set up boarding facilities for children who lost homes, families and schools before the monsoon and • c) Start the school rebuilding project. These were possible with the help of hundreds of supporters across the globe. So a huge thank you to all of you who extended our call for help. We raised just over £20k through my online (GoFundMe) campaign and other donations. Two thirds of this money was used on learning centres and setting up the boarding facilities and the rest are being used in the school rebuilding project. Over the last six months we have helped over 400 children deal with the aftermath of the terrible experience and set up a safe, secure and caring home for 35 children in Sermathang. We have started the school rebuilding work and now need your help. Cassandra Hannagan, a photographer and an ex-volunteer to Yangrima, has helped us set up the Yangrima Calendar 2016 & various other products, to raise some funds for the rebuild project and raise awareness of the work here. The calendar has stunning and rare pictures of Yangrima and Helambu region and I am sure you will like them. So please buy the calendar and encourage others to do so.
