The First Georgia Flag

In 1879, Georgia state senator Herman H. Perry put forward a flag to memorialize Confederate soldiers during the American Civil War. Perry himself had served as a colonel in the Confederate army during the war, and based the design on the First National Flag of the Confederacy, commonly known as the 'Stars and Bars'. Over the years the flag has been modified with various emblems being added, but the first flag, as shown in this design, was much more simplistic and featured a solid blue band with no additional emblems.
