Seasonal Storefronts Watercolors

This collection of twelve watercolor and ink paintings of quaint storefronts began as a way to window shop in my imagination during times when I was unable to do so in reality. In November, 2021, I had to isolate with Covid for ten days. I spent my time alone online shopping for holiday gifts. Imagining the stores and their festive window displays inspired me to draw my first storefront, an antique shop. I filled it with Thanksgiving decorations and vintage dishes I remembered from my Grandma's collection. I wasn't sure that I would be recovered by Thanksgiving, so creating this painting was a way for me to celebrate the season in spite of my quarantine. It brought me so much joy to make that I committed to making a seasonal storefront each month for the following year with the intention of creating a calendar so everyone could enjoy the time of year through art. Each month, I created a new, detailed storefront featuring beautiful shop window displays to fit the season. Including details fitting of the holidays and sentiments of the time of year, these shops capture the feeling of each month with imaginative whimsy. Each painting also includes an animal, or two, to bring life to the artwork.
