Pink Fairy Duster Flowers & Prickly Pear Cactus

This collection has a variety of products that feature a photo of the flowers of a pink fairy duster shrub with a prickly pear cactus. The pink fairy duster shrub (Calliandra eriophylla) is a low growing shrub native to the Sonoran and Chihuahuan Deserts of southern California and Arizona, southwestern New Mexico, and northern Mexico. The flowers have dense clusters of pale pink to deep pink stamens and bloom late winter to late spring. The genus name, Calliandra, means "beautiful stamens". It is a member of the Pea Family (Fabaceae) which includes acacias and mimosas. The species name, eriophylla, is Greek for "wooly leaf". They thrive in heat and can endure extreme droughts.
