Memphis Style

Memphis style was the bad kid on the block. Born out of the 1980s it was a foil to the more forumulaic and safe design that had preceded it following the Second World War. It's aim was to challenge and shock with bold shapes and bright colors, bad taste and out of place styles. In fact it was a mish-mash of the history of style, reinterpreting all that had preceded. Love it or loathe it, this style has persisted, although is perhaps has a softer interpretation than before.
