Maguire Primrose Wildflower Photograph ©Sandy Long
The Maguire primrose (Primula cusickiana var. maguirei) is a pretty wildflower that blooms from mid-April to mid-May. The purplish-lavender flowers are about 1 inch across and on top of long, leafless stems that can be up to 6 - 10 inches long. It grows on moss-covered dolomite cliffs, notches and boulders where some soil has accumulated. The entire range of the species is narrowly distributed along a 10 mile swath along western Logan Canyon, Cache County, Utah. Photograph copyrighted © Sandy Long, all rights reserved.
