Kikko (Tortoiseshell)
Kikko is an auspicious pattern derived from the shape of the tortoiseshell, which represents longevity. Japanese samurai and ashigaru worn armor constructed with hexagon-shaped plates during feudal Japan. These hexagonal plates resemble the shell of a tortoise or turtle, which holds symbolic significance. Kikko patterns reflects both practical protection and cultural symbolism.
