Indian Folk Art - Warli

Warli is a tribal art from the state of Maharashtra, India. A circle, triangle & square are the main components used. People & animals are drawn with two inverse triangles joined at the tips. Paintings comprise mainly of scenes of hunting, farming, festivals, dances & day-to-day activities of the village people. These are painted on the walls of village huts. White pigment, a mixture of rice paste & water, is used as a paint with gum as a binder. A bamboo stick is used as a paintbrush. We have tried to bring this age old art from India into your daily lives.
